The Big Easy On The Hudson Jazz & Blues Fest

The Croton Business Council (CBC) will host 'The Big Easy on the Hudson', a day filled with live Jazz & Blues, Artisanal Food, Beverage and Retail vendors, and family fun, at Vassallo Park. Attendance is free. No outside alcohol will be permitted in the festival area. A free shuttle will be operating from the Croton-Harmon Train Station to the Upper Village throughout the day. Croton Community Potluck & Seed Exchange

Bring appetizers or small bites to share & seeds to trade! Help restock the Library’s Seed Exchange & check out Spice of the Month kits. Rain or shine! We'll come indoors if the weather is bad. No registration required! Free & open to all. This event is co-hosted by the leaders of various Croton Facebook pages and the Library.

Riverview Jazz Series Concert - Frank Tate & Friends

Join us for a Mother's Day jazz concert featuring Frank Tate & friends! This is the last performance of a four-part series offered in tribute to the late Manny Albam, a long-time Mount Airy resident, a renowned trombonist, arranger, and director of the BMI Composer's Workshop. First come, first served — and previous concerts in this series have been very popular, so please plan to come early because the space might fill up! This Jazz Sundays series is co-sponsored with the Library by the Village of Croton-on-Hudson's Arts & Humanities Council.

The Grit Games - Family Fun

Race, swing and move through obstacle courses at Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson, and compete in the first ever Grit Ninja Games, presented by The Grit Ninja, Saturday, May 18. Children and young adults ages nine and up can compete in various tournaments in divisions based on age. Celebrity ninjas from American Ninja Warrior and American Ninja Warrior Jr. including Daniel Gil, Vance Walker, Isaiah Thomas, and Isabella Wakeham will be available for meet and greets. The entire day will be fun for the whole family as there will be local food trucks, beginner ninja obstacles suitable for all ages, raffles, and a professional ninja racing competition for everyone to watch. Croton Free Library Spring Book and Bake Sale

The next Croton Free Library Book & Bake Sale will take place Saturday, May 18th and Sunday, May 19th from 10am-3pm (early bird admission will be from 8am-10am on Saturday for $10). Sunday is Fill a Library Tote for just $20 all Sunday! As in years past, the event will take place in the library’s Ottinger room. We know this is a fun weekend for so many of our neighbors and friends, and we look forward to seeing everyone discover great book, music, and DVD deals. Our sale is fit for all ages, and items are listed at prices that cannot be beat! We will also have delicious homemade baked goods on sale (all safely wrapped) for you to enjoy after a successful shopping experience.


Lorraine Hansberry Day

Gather with the Lorraine Hansberry Coalition (LHC), friends, family, and your neighbors for a family-friendly, free afternoon of celebration, music, and community in the historic Bethel Chapel to commemorate what would have been the acclaimed playwright, author, and activist Lorraine Hansberry’s 94th birthday. 


Mobile Shredder

Westchester County is bringing the Mobile Shredder to Croton-on-Hudson on May 21st.
Residents can bring up to 4 file-size (10”x12”x15”) boxes of confidential papers per household to Croton-on-Hudson from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for shredding.
 
  • Please remove all large binder clips and covers.
  • Papers from businesses institutions or commercial enterprises are not acceptable and will be rejected as will any junk mail or newspapers.
  • Hard covers – cardboard or plastic covers on items such as ledger books marble composition books and hard-cover books – cannot be shredded and will be turned away
  • First come first served
  • Service at the events works on a first-come-first-served basis as the Mobile Shredder unit can reach its maximum capacity before closing time.
  • In extreme weather events may be canceled or terminated early.

Community Blood Drive

Every month, the New York Blood Center holds a community blood drive at the Library. To sign up, call 800-933-2566 or visit nybc.org/donate. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be welcomed if space permits. Please remember to eat, drink, and bring your donor ID card or ID with name and photo.


Memorial Day Ceremony

The Village's annual Memorial Day Ceremony will take place on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Hosted by The American Legion Fox - Eklof Post 505, under the leadership of William Tuttle, Commander, and Joseph Martinelli, Adjutant, the event will take place at Veterans Corners, 173-179 Cleveland Drive. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be relocated to the Gym of the Holy Name of Mary Church, 120 Grand St.


Dangerous at Any Age: Five Plays

Join us for a touring production of Dangerous at Any Age — five plays written, directed, acted, and produced by people who are old enough to know better! It's a collection of comedies and dramas about love, life, loss, limits and larceny from the viewpoint of folks over 60, about folks over 60, acted and directed by folks over 60. Summerfest Parade Registration Open

 

Join the 2024 Summerfest parade, scheduled for Sunday, June 2 at 12:45 PM. Parade participants gather on Old Post Road South between the exit of Croton Harmon High School and Cleveland Drive at 12:15 – parade kicks off at 12:45. We are looking for community groups & organizations to bring their best creative ideas to the parade. Decorated wagons, signs, costumes, music, mascots and more are all welcome. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the application at https://www.crotononhudson-ny.gov/parade2024
