Notice to Residents: Quaker Bridge Closure

Please be advised that, effective immediately, the Quaker Bridge has been closed by Westchester County Department of Public Works and Transportation until further notice. This closure follows a new weight rating issued by the New York State Department of Transportation, necessitating this action to prioritize public safety.

Detour Information

For West of Croton River Access:

  • Start/End Point: The detour begins on Grand Street at the intersection with Niles Road.
  • Route: Traffic will follow Grand Street to Maple Street, continue onto Municipal Place, and merge onto Route 9.

For East of Croton River Access:

  • Start/End Point: The detour begins on Quaker Ridge Road at the intersection with Quaker Bridge Road East.
  • Route: Traffic will be directed along Quaker Ridge Road to Glendale Road, proceed to the southern end of Quaker Bridge Road, and merge onto Old Albany Post Road, continuing onto Route 9.

Local traffic only signs will be posted to restrict non-local traffic on residential roads near the bridge. Drivers are asked to follow the designated detour routes to avoid congestion and maintain safety on smaller streets.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and to exercise caution when traveling along the detour routes. Updates regarding the bridge's status will be provided as more information becomes available.
